Social Distortion is among the many acts scheduled to perform in New Orleans at the Voodoo Music Festival over Halloween weekend. Parts of Louisiana have recently been devastated by Hurricane Katrina. The Red Cross is mobilizing every available resource from across the country including thousands of staff and volunteers to respond to this storm.

Volunteers are already on the ground staffing shelters for tens of thousands of people in five states - Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Texas.

The best way for you to help is by making an online contribution to the Disaster Relief Fund at redcross.org.

To thank you for your help, SxDx.com is offering a pair of two-day passes for the Voodoo Music Festival as well as a camping pass (value: $196.00 US dollars).

Just go to the new CONTEST page ->HERE<-.

the situation in the gulf coast is getting worse by the hour. The last thing on anybody's mind should be a camping trip to the voodoo music fest that will probably be cancelled anyways. I encourage everyone to do something, anything, and combined it could make a difference. I get paid friday and I will donate money to the red cross. This is just as bad as the tsunami disaster. The US will feel the effects of this forever. People are wading through flood waters, pushing dead bodies aside, and looting TV sets out of the local stores. A total evacuation of New Orleans has been ordered and it will take at least 3 months to accomplish any type of restoration. I would be surprised if New Orleans is inhabitable within a year. We will see what Americans are made of as we start to restore order in that region.

Let all help anyway we can. Evacuees are arriving currently where I live in Texas. Once the Levees are repaired, the next step is to start pumping out the water. Then the debris will be cleaned up & then the next step is restoring power.

Check out www.nola.com, they have up to the minute news & photos.

I have freinds & customers in South LA that I hope are ok.

We are hard at work on a relocation plan for the 2005 Voodoo Music Experience. Developments currently in progress are a new festival site and city, as well as a shift in ambition, as Voodoo aspires to raise funds for those affected by Hurricane Katrina. The goal of this year?s event, still set for Saturday, October 29 and Sunday, October 30, will be to raise funds (details TBA) for supporting those in need and to aid in the rebuilding and preservation of the culture and heritage of New Orleans, which has served as home to Voodoo for the past six years.

?We want to be a part of the rebuilding process of New Orleans and we are dedicated to preserving the unique musical identity of our great city,? says Stephen Rehage, founder and independent producer of the annual VOODOO MUSIC EXPERIENCE. ?I am in awe of the generosity and kindness of so many people and cities who are reaching out to provide us a home for this year?s festival, the artists who are offering to perform and our fans and sponsors who are providing their continued support and patience during this difficult time. We look forward to harnessing this energy into something truly great for this community that so many of us, our friends and family call home.?

Details will be released as soon as the information is confirmed. Original tickets will be honored, however, refunds are available by phone or at any Ticketmaster location. As for next year?s event, the goal is to return to Voodoo?s hometown of New Orleans. Stay tuned for additional updates and information regarding the 2005 VOODOO MUSIC EXPERIENCE.

We thank you for your patience during these difficult times.

Not sure on the status of the line-up with the location change, but the festival is now going on in Memphis. Should have word in the next couple of days on the bands set to perform.

Here's the word...the Voodoo Fest was on hold until this week when the promotors found another venue (Memphis). In the interim, the band booked a show in Houston and is now unable to perform at the Voodoo Music Festival.
